Owen Toyota & Sponsorships

Griffith Swans

Owen Toyota has come on board with the Griffith Swans Football Club as one of their major sponsors in a recently secured 3 and a half year contract.

This new sponsorship deal was unveiled on the weekends' game against Narrandera with the First Grade jumpers sporting the Owen Toyota logo.

"It's great to bring on board a locally owned and managed company like Owen Toyota" says George Duncan, Club President.

Along with jumper sponsorship, a massive Toyota logo will be painted onto the Exies Oval.

George Duncan is excited about this new arrangement. "The (Toyota) logo painted on the oval is something new to our club. We had many positive comments from spectators and visitors at last years Pink Day when we had the Pink Ribbon painted onto the Exies oval. This is a continuation of this idea."

Local Aussie Rules has played a part of the staff and owners of Owen Toyota with both Dean and Mark Owen playing in the Junior and Seniors Swans, and Dean's recent claiming of the Celebrity Goal Kicking Challenge.

"We believe that this is a strategic sponsorship arrangement that will give us scope for a wide range of advertising opportunities in the future", says Dean Owen, Owen Toyota's Dealer Principal. "It's also a way of showing our return support for a club that did so much for both Mark and myself in our football days." "The Swans clubs colours are red and white, as are the Toyota colours, so it's also a perfect partnership between two respected winning local teams."

Griffith City Football Club

In 2010 Owen Toyota agreed to a 3 year sponsorship deal with Griffith's newest Soccer team, the Griffith City Football Club. This is the first time in Owen Toyota's history that we have ever been involved with senior soccer and we are excited to be able to sponsor Griffith's newest first grade side. The club was formed when North's and East's football clubs amalgamated earlier this year due to both teams struggling to remain competitive.

Owen Toyota felt that it was important to sponsor the side so that there remained a strong club contesting the local competition which will ultimately benefit the community and give us some marketing exposure. The clubs colours were also predominately red and white so that also tied in well with Toyota's branding, Dean Owen said.

The new club will also share two home grounds, being Exies No. 1 and Henderson Oval, with the club confirming it will be keeping both but refused to comment on how many games would be at each this season. Griffith City FC vice-president Angelo Cirillo said the club would continue to push for games under lights on Saturday night at Exies No.1, saying the venue was one of the best in the competition and it would be foolish to neglect its marketing potential. Owen Toyota also sponsors the Griffith Swans Australian Rules Football Club who's home ground is also the Exies No.1 so we are pleased to be a part of two local teams that use such a high profile and modern facility.

Griffith Demons Basketball Team

The Griffith Demons Men’s Basketball team has a large following within the community and Owen Toyota is proud to have supported them since 2008. The Demons have made the State League finals for five consecutive years and in 2009 the first ever State League final was held in Griffith.

Some of their success can be attributed to "importing" a player from the United States of America for the season. The Demons have imported four players since they entered the State League competition in 2007. As part of their sponsorship deal with the Demons, Owen Toyota supplies a vehicle to the American player during their time in Griffith. This allows them to travel to local schools and teach kids all about basketball. Owen Toyota also loans the team a Toyota Tarago for away games when required.

Griffith Demons coach Andrew Cullen said "Owen Toyota has been a valued sponsor of the Demons over the years and without their contribution we would not be able to support our American import players. There wouldn’t be a Griffith Demons if it wasn’t for them and our other local sponsors".

Owen Toyota enjoys sponsoring local sporting teams like the Griffith Demons because sport is a major pastime for many locals. Dealer Principal, Dean Owen said "Our sponsorships are aimed at forming relationships with locals. Sporting events are arguable the main source of entertainment in many small towns so it’s important that the business community supports them".
